CMHA & CZHA Non-Traditional Hockey framework
Submitted By CZHA on Friday, August 28, 2020
Programming is based on Stage 1 and 2 requirements. Association programming is for participants who were registered with the Clarington Minor Hockey Association and the Clarington Zone Hockey Association for 2019-2020.  Players who played for either CMHA who was an NRP or CZHA with a waiver in the 2019-2020 season can participate or return to their home centre.

Structure for the upcoming non-traditional hockey under the CMHA & CZHA is as follows.

-Registration and payment online begin September 1 and closes September 20.

-Block one (1) will run Oct 5th – Nov 15th and Block two (2) will run for five (5) weeks starting Nov 16th – Dec 20th. Blocks of six (6) week increments will follow beginning January 3, 2021 if the rules stay the same.

-Groups/Bubbles will consist of no more than 50 cohorts/players per bubble. (4-5 teams)

-A team is comprised of current rule 9-players, 1-goalie.

-Three (3) ice times a week with the possibly an optional development. The three ice times will consist of one (1) practice, two (2) games a week. Development can only be conducted by H.C.L.D.S organizations as mandated by Hockey Canada, OHF and OMHA.

-Two (2) block programs to start. Block one (1) will run Oct 5th – Nov 15th and Block two (2) will run for five (5) weeks starting Nov 16th – Dec 20th.

-The first two (2) weeks can only be development based. (practices)

-The CMHA & CZHA will do its best to schedule bubbles in the same arena with a regular weekly format for the season.

-Health questionnaire will be filled out prior to every on-ice activity. NOTE: There will be zero tolerance for misleading information. Players and coaching staff’s health and safety are the utmost concern and responsibility for our membership. If you are not feeling well stay home.

-Players will wear a mask coming and leaving the rink. The masks will come off when they put their helmets on.

-The procedure of entering and exiting the building will be dependent on the rules of the Municipality of Clarington.  This will be shared to all the bubbles before the season begins.

-Spector capacity will be dependent on the rules of the Municipality of Clarington and will be shared before the season begins.

-Division and how teams are formed will be based on registration. Either Minor/Major mix and or a “tiered system in their capacity”.

-Referee and timekeeper for all games.

-How the 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 games will be played can be found at the link below.

Block #1 (6 weeks)-$350 first time registration with the CMHA & CZHA this season will include HC insurance and OMHA registration fee as well as increased arena fees.

Block #2 (5 weeks)-$225 due online one (1) week before Block #2 Begins.  If not paid, the CMHA will assume player has been removed for the remaining season and can be filled with a new player. Once a player leaves, they can not return in a later block.

Block #3/4/5- Cost and continued program will be reviewed based on registration and guidelines.

All costs are final and there will be no refunds. Everything stated here within is subject to change while hockey continues to go through the stages and phases being established by Hockey Canada, OHF and the OMHA.  Any player who joins late will be charged the additional registration fee as in block 1.  Additional players will only be accepted in the next block depending on space availability in established bubbles.

*** It is important we make clear that under Hockey Canada, OHF and Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) rules, anyone who chooses to register with an unsanctioned league AFTER September 30th 2020 will NOT be permitted to return to any Hockey Canada sanctioned activities. (Meaning everyone within the OHF – including all OMHA and GTHL associations) for the duration of the 2020 – 2021 season including if and when a regular/traditional rep season resumes.***

This non-traditional hockey is about getting our players and members back on the ice, in a fun positive learning environment. These are unprecedented times that are changing day by day. Thank you for your time, patience and understanding as we work through this together.
